About
The Person Behind
the Lens
I am a storytelling photographer based in Southampton, originally from Hong Kong. With over fifteen years behind the camera, I have learnt that the most powerful photographs are the ones you do not have to pose for.
Growing Up With a Camera
I picked up my first camera in Hong Kong when I was fourteen. It was a hand-me-down film SLR from my father, and I was immediately hooked. While my classmates were collecting trading cards, I was roaming the narrow streets of Mong Kok and the quiet trails above Tai Tam, teaching myself to see light.
Photography became more than a hobby. It became the way I made sense of the world. Through the viewfinder, I noticed things other people walked past: the way morning light fell across a market stall, the fleeting expression on a stranger's face, the geometry of a city constantly rebuilding itself.
Hong Kong, where it all began
Fifteen Years of Telling Stories
Over the last fifteen years, photography has taken me across Asia and Europe, shooting everything from high-end commercial campaigns and corporate events to intimate family portraits and destination weddings. Every genre taught me something different about people and how they want to be seen.
Commercial work sharpened my technical eye: lighting, composition, delivering under pressure. Personal and family photography taught me patience, empathy, and the art of making people feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Weddings brought both worlds together, demanding precision and emotion in equal measure.
I have been lucky enough to work with brands, small businesses, and hundreds of families. But the constant through all of it has been the same: a fascination with genuine human connection and the desire to preserve it honestly.
A New Chapter in Southampton
In 2022, I made the move from Hong Kong to Southampton. It was a big change, but the south of England quickly became home. The light here is extraordinary. Soft golden hours that seem to last forever in summer, moody coastal skies in winter, and ancient woodlands that look like something from a film set.
Since arriving, I have built a growing community of clients across Southampton, Winchester, the New Forest, and the wider Hampshire area. I have photographed weddings at Northcote House and Carey's Manor, family sessions among the bluebells at Micheldever, and brand shoots in the creative spaces around Bedford Place.
What I love about working here is the variety. Every location, every family, every project feels different. And that keeps the work fresh and the creativity flowing.
“I believe the best photographs happen when you forget the camera is there. My job is not to direct your life — it is to notice it.”
Storytelling Over Posing
My approach is simple. I want your photographs to feel like you. Not a version of you that was told where to stand and how to smile, but the real, unscripted, beautifully imperfect you.
That means I spend more time talking than directing. I create an atmosphere where laughter happens naturally, where families interact the way they do at home, and where couples forget they are being photographed at all. The results are images that make you feel something when you look at them ten years from now.
I am also proudly bilingual. I work fluently in English and Cantonese, which allows me to connect with a wider range of clients and put them completely at ease. For families in the Cantonese-speaking community here in Southampton and across the UK, that makes a genuine difference.
Genuine moments, always
Whether it is your wedding day, a quiet afternoon with your family, or a brand campaign that needs to tell a bigger story, I bring the same commitment: to see you clearly and capture you honestly.
